Dr. David E. Cox

Senior Pastor

While serving in the military, Dr. David E. Cox developed a zeal for ministry and leading others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed serving and ministering to military personnel and their families. While his military experience was primarily in aviation, he passionately pursued opportunities to serve in Christian organizations and ministries. Dr. Cox considered becoming a Navy chaplain before fulfilling his active duty and reserve obligations. After considerable prayer, David believed the Lord led him to serve the local church and pursue in-depth theological studies.

Dr. Cox began preaching at the Union Baptist Church, Ridgecrest, CA, where he was ordained and served as assistant pastor. Dr. Cox would soon accept pastoral positions in California and Arkansas. Dr. Cox now serves as a church planter of the Oak Hill Bible Church in Conway, Arkansas, where he continues to emphasize a church with a kingdom agenda.

Dr. Cox earned several degrees, including a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University, Bakersfield, CA; Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock, AR; Master of Divinity from BMA Theological Seminary, Jacksonville, TX; Doctor of Ministry from New Orleans Theological Baptist Seminary, New Orleans, LA; Master of Theology and Doctor of Philosophy from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY. Dr. Cox is an Adjunct Professor of Evangelism and Pastoral Ministry and Director of Recruiting for BMA Theological Seminary. He continues demonstrating an abiding commitment to the church and the academy, thus using his influence to mentor pastors and ministries nationwide. Dr. Cox considers himself a life learner with an insatiable quest to search the depths of God’s Word.

Dr. Cox’s preaching style involves examining and explaining Scripture carefully, combining vivid stories and illustrations from contemporary life. He uniquely can provide relevant applications of Scripture for the Christian life. Dr. Cox believes that “There is no greater privilege known unto man than to stand before God’s people and speak on His behalf.”

Dr. Cox is an instructor and dean for Christian Leadership Schools for the Sunday School Publishing Board in Nashville, Tennessee. He also taught for the Arkansas Baptist State Convention’s Seminary Extension program and is a member of the Association of Biblical Counseling and Evangelical Theology Society.
